National Manufacturing Day @ KPM UK
We have had a lot happening today in aid of National Manufacturing Day.
This morning we had a group of Year 10 students on site to show the exciting types of careers on offer in the world of engineering!
It was a great opportunity to show students first hand what it’s like to work in the manufacturing industry, with a tour around our factory as well as a special look at our R&D department. We had lots of good feedback from the students about their morning on site with some students saying
“Today has influenced my aspirations for the future”
“The visit opened up new career pathways for the future for me”
“It made me realise there are loads of opportunities”
We know the challenges that face the manufacturing industry and a career in engineering might sometimes feel out of reach for some young people so we take pride in being able to do our bit in inspiring the next generation of engineers.
Later in the afternoon we were visited by the stakeholder Policy Advisor from Make UK, Tom Burdon. This gave us the opportunity to have look look at the manufacturing industry in the UK on a wider scale. It is important to make sure we mark days like today as we all know the challenges faced by UK manufacturing.
